Maybe I could title this post, 2015 IN REVIEW! But as my mind reviews the past year, there seems to be a big blur and I have trouble finding a key that would adequately communicate that. A lot has gone on here at Sherwood and many things are in “development” stage. As these developments have taken a little shape, here comes “an economic downturn” in our “oil patch driven economy.” Some of our people have lost jobs. Some have lost income. But one thing has remained consistent, and that’s the dedicated service and love for others this church continues to be known for. In spite of the downturn, our building fund has grown to near $450,000. But it has taken a toll on our budget. We have a good news/bad news regarding the budget/giving. The good news is we didn’t spend our all of our budget. The bad news is we spent more than we gave. Because of your past generosity, and your continued heart to respond to immediate needs through the year, we still have a reserve. The elders asked the deacons to prepare budget that would cut 10%, which they did. Even with a 10% cut, we will still have a challenge. As we ring in the new year, let’s pray for consistency in every aspect of our service to the Lord and His church as we grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior and maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
